In china this is common. I saw a guy that said no internet connection made the ads dissapear and there (china) they even have ads when turning it on! Remember, no Internet = no ads (try it first). You can connect to the internet once a month to check for updates ams if you want the Chromecast or apps functionalities, buy the mi box or a Chromecast...

I had a Xiaomi TV when I lived in China last year; it played a 30 second ad when I turned it on and a 15 second ad every time I switched it off. Even with the Internet connected (I pulled the Ethernet and turned off WiFi) the ads still displayed. So annoying.

Dans cette seconde citation, j'imagine que c'est comme (au moins) pour Android, avec les applis à pub vidéo : la vidéo est conservée en cache pour être rejouée régulièrement, autant pour économiser en datas que pour être rapidement chargée par la suie.
De fait, couper l'accès internet permet toujours de jouer les pubs.
