Okay I'm going to try to go a different direction with this. While I will lose vector graphic compatibility, I want to try a more realistic glass look for the calculator case. The best I can do in Inkscape is having semi-transparent white overlays, which as you can see doesn't work well. The GCC4TI text will be displayed in some stylistic fashion on the calculator's screen. I agree that the non-scientificness of the calculator is misleading at best, and I also agree that the gears should be seen better, so why not just take out the buttons entirely?
Kevin Kofler (./14) :
Mimicing the color scheme of the logo of a popular operating system isn't necessarily the way to look professional.
The gear design (including the colors) was loosely inspired from the "cube gears" logo used in compiz-config settings manager. I will agree that it looks toyish, as now that I look at it again it reminds me of the K'Nex gearboxes I used as a child. However it is not meant to mimic the appearance of any OS, organization, or company. Nevertheless, I shall take this criticism constructively and update the color scheme.
