Leading Ireland based retailers that are already onboard to stock the new multi-entertainment handheld, priced at EUR349, include 3G, Xtravision, and Spectra.

Tony Boyle, of Sigma Wireless, says: "There's been growing interest in Gizmondo since it created such a stir in at the Toys for Big Boys show in Dublin. We're thrilled to be working with Gizmondo Europe in bringing such a feature-packed piece of technology to consumers in Ireland."

Brendan Denhan, of Spectra, commented: "I've walked from one end of CeBIT to the other and this is the most innovative and exciting product I've seen."

Carl Freer, managing director, Gizmondo, says: "The demographic we're targeting in Ireland doesn't differ greatly from the UK, but in-depth knowledge of Irish retail channels is essential. Sigma has that expertise and experience, and we expect great things from them."
