the SAME FATAL ERROR!!!!(memory overflow) SOS s'il vous plait - Page 1

i too own a TI89 titanium,
got it 2 weeks ago,
intalled the game today,
but it all works great until i try to leave the house,
it crashed giving me a "Fatal Error : Memory overflow" message
i read the topic posted(a year ago),
but i still cant figure out what to do,

i notice that the forum is nearly dead, but IF ANYONE SEE THIS MESSAGE, PLZ POST A RESPONSE TO HELP ME!!!

it is Chrono Fantasy(best calculator game i have seen)

You don't have enough memory. Have you archived everything? Which version of CF are you using?

THEY ARE CHECKED. That's why it reports an error an stops itself instead of a real crash.

i archived the entire CF folder, and i pasted the 3.36 engine over the original 3.35,
i have 150K RAM free
cleared RAM 3 times

Delete some Flash APPs.

how much FLASH APPS should i free up?
is it going to work??

btw, would it work better if i use the DDump program to send u the dump file to see whats wrong with my calculator?

The problem is simple you don't have enought memory free in your calculator.
Remove unused Flash Application (they are plenty ones on titanium) to have 165K free.

i deleted every flashapps
when i open the Memory tab,
next to FlashApp is 5739
RAM free 179886

now, everthing work the same, except that this time
i see the Logo of Chrono Fantasy when go near the door,
but when i try to go through it,
it says
"Loading"
then it crashed

"Fatal Error:Memory overflow"

help???

Have you downloaded the latest version of PreOs (0.72)?

who should i send the dump file to???

Well, you could save ~1 KB by typing in the command line Custom:EndCustm (which is an empty custom menu). PreOS itself requires a number of kilobytes of RAM, and switching from 0.71 and 0.72 should hardly change anything.
How many files do you have on your Titanium ? I suspect your folders may be large. The handle identification of tthdex or CS would allow you to see this very quickly, but tthdex is not compatible with the Titanium - nor may ever be - and I'm not sure CS is either.

5739 looks like the size of SuperStart, which takes up only several dozens of bytes of RAM, so the problem doesn't lie there...

yes, the only flash app i have left is Super Start,
and the only game i have left besides Chrono Fantasy is TI Chess v4.11 by TICT

How many files does your calculator contain (2nd + F1 on each folder name in the Var-Link, and sum the results) ?

got the same probleme.

with the titanium too.

and according to the mem status, i have enough memory..

175168 for the ram
1727702 for the flash

apps instaled are superstart, tireader, ti studycards

+ tichess

there have to be something with it.

i thinks I have up to date version of of every think. how to check that ?

ok, that happened to me...i fixed it...what u have to do is delete everything...EVERYTHING...i had to delete all other files that weren't needed for cf...I had to delete all the apps except the necessary ones...I know it should have enough ram to run it without deleting everything, but it doesn't. You have to delete EVERYTHING...

I did a few test.

176K of ram free dosn't works
177K works...

yes, it needs a lot i guess that PphD will do something sooner or later. For now just archive everythings that is usefull, do a RAM reset, run preos() then cf()

and also, DO NOT archive the cterror file; or the ti will freze if exiting cf with an error. (delete it if nessesary)

my RAM free right now shows 176822

it still crashes,
do i delet every thing else in the calculator?
