Interested in Graphic Hacking - Page 1

Hi everyone, I simple love the NEOGO and as you may know, KOF is a big part of Brazil culture.

After much research I ended here, I was tried to hack in kof98 tileset without success. I tried "NGGTOOL" for some hour but couldn't open then with "Tile Molester" neither "YYCHR"

I simple want to try some cool stuff, like changing some character sprites into other character from other games.

I want to do this purely for fun, no commercial intend behind it.

Is there any light, or it's just impossible to hack NEOGEO roms graphics? thanks.

Neo geo tool suite, is the only way to hack the graphics of Neo Geo game.
It's long and hazardous. Be sure to have the nggtools_011.zip release. The former is buggy.

For games manufactured after 1999, be sure to use a rom decrypted, otherwise it will not work.

First, convert graphics files AES / MVS to Neocd.
example: 251-c1.bin + 251-c2.bin = 251out.spr

Make a copy of this file and rename it. spr editor work on two files, the original and modified.

When you have your spr files, open them with spreditor.

You will have a caught sight but not the right colors.
To get the right color palettes, open the p1.rom or p2.rom if you have one. (paletas/Cargar ROM)


I say in my example i use .rom, but this can be .bin, no difference.
