Maybe someone is interested - today I released my NG-related Grahpcseditor. It's a bit limited because I tried to develop an ALL-in-Tool... but better than nothing, right?

Check my NeoGeo-related Blog.

FIX: load/edit/save
Cx: load/edit/save
SPR: load/edit/save
SYS: load/edit/save
LOGO: load

Editing is limited to set a pixel, fill/clear a tile or copy/cut/insert view, if you need real editing capabilities you are able to export and import different formats.

*.NGPAL (32byte), it's a binary palette-file with 16colors, you can use this directly with your code.

NGFX is multilingual, englisch & german are hardcoded. There are also 4 other Languages you can choose from (español, français, italiano, português), these are translated with help from 'freem' and his friends or with google-translator. Feel free to correct this files or rename, edit & share 'template.txt' for your own language.

UPDATE NGFX 160201:
- added option to export converted image in 'image import window'
- removed ColorMode-option in ColorRequester
- updated french language (Elrayzeur)

UPDATE NGFX - ImageGrid and -map Tool 160201: (formerly 'NGFX-ImageGridTool')
- changed GUI & fixed some typos
- file extension will be automatically added
- overwrite prompt
- swap TILEs by drag and drop
- save special MAP-file (*.ngfx-map)

UPDATE NGFX 160206:
- fixed missing 'Dark bit'

UPDATE NGFX - ColorFade-Calculator 160205:
- fixed missing 'Dark bit'
- added 'PaletteEditor' incl. 'ColorRequester' from NGFX
- import palette (only first 16 colors found) from image (*.bmp;*.jpg;*.png;*.gif)
- sort colors with drang & drop in 'PaletteEditor'

Hi Blastar.

I just tried your software and is very good.

Only problem yet.

When I export an image, the grid is not in the bmp.
It is quite difficult to replace tiles without it.

In any case, very good job.

Hi Blastar,

thank you for sharing your NGFX tool, I have played around with it yesterday and today.
It is a great tool to view inside graphic roms and edit them and import new images into them, especially for ASM programmers.
The palette tool and the "neo-geo-save" color picker are awesome, I will use them to find the best looking color combinations in the future.

Suggestions:
- The paint brush tool should draw more continuously in my opinion (without the interruptions in the drawed line when moving the mouse to fast).
- Please add the option to export a previously imported color-reduced image as common PNG graphic for using it with DATlib (without dividing it into tile slices).
- I would love to have some kind of a (simple) "drawing mode" similar to GrafX2 (https://code.google.com/p/grafx2/wiki/gallery) to be able to create graphics with indexed "neo-geo-save" colors.

P.S. Nice choice to use that "Pulstar Blast" logo out the Blazing Star's S1 rom for your screen shot wink

@Elrayzeur.
you're a Frenchman or speak the french language, right? Let's make a deal - update the french language file, and I'll provide a solution according to your needs. (this takes a few days)

@NeoHomeBrew,
I know GrafX2, I used the MSDOS-version many years ago. All the drawing-stuff is a bit tricky because NGFX works completely different than usual drawing tools to speed up things. Use any other programm that fits your needs and use only 16 colors... what graphics-editor you use?
I also never used DatLib, it's very powerfull but lacks some tools you need... I'll find a solution.

Hi Blastar,

I am currently using:
"IsoPix Pro" when drawing pixel art on my Samsung (Android) tablet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nullium.isopix.pro)
"Photoshop CS2" with my desktop computer to prepare the graphics for DATlib import
"ImageReady CS2" with my desktop computer for doing animation stuff
"GraphicsGale" with my desktop computer mostly for palette editing (https://graphicsgale.com/us/)

I am quite satisfied with the tools but it is always a hassle to pick only "Neo Geo-save" colors and not to mess up the color palette(s) in the whole process.
That's why I am very happy about your NGFX tool and especially about your color picker and your palette tool.

blastar (./12) :
NeoHomeBrew & Elrayzeur, check my Blog.

Thank you a lot for the addition of exporting color-reduced images top
Your color reduction methods (particularly Mode 2 and 3) work also well with cartoon-style images.
Example: 256 colors vs. 14 colors (very impressive!)
