Hi there,
I released a new small NGCD-demo called 'We love Alice'... nothing special but another nice effect never expected on NeoGeo, this time it's a zoom-lense.

Super cool stuff; thanks for the shoutout smile

if I get some time this weekend (and if I have the password on here), I'll update my site with the news.

(I'd update the wiki, but an expiring certificate is preventing me from doing so tongue)

Wow, I can't believe what I am seeing - it is incredible what you are pulling out of the system enflamme
The demo looks fantastic on my CRT screen and it really works on my NGCD. I have also tried out the alternate
modes with: A-Button + D-Pad for manual movement and B-Button for pure (circular!) transparency without lens effect.
Well done Blastar, as always, I am very impressed - IlovethisDemo!

P. S. (1): Nice idea to use a Capcom-style version (date) number for a demo which shows a character which is based on a Capcom game.
P. S. (2): Would you may reveal some of the magic behind the scene? (Sorry, I couldn't resist to ask.. wink )

I assume tile data is software-rendered and transfered during vblank.

Not very practical outside a fixed background but nice effect nontheless smile

7

no, it's no software-rendering and no magic - it's just another use of the 'palette-ram-heater'-trick (™furrtek). check this video I recorded with MAME.
yes, it's very limited because it depends on a static background but maybe this can be used as a transparent bar for a menu-selector (bar)?

8

Ah ok, still kinda software rendering, but via palettes.

Wouldn't it be easier to render & transfer tiledata? 60*60 lens is 16 tiles aka only 2kb to transfer.

Ah I am very Happy to this new one good work on the neo geo CD !
