I've been thinking about trying travel nursing, but the biggest thing holding me back is family life. The flexibility and opportunity to work in different places sound great, but I'm not sure how realistic it is when you have a partner and family responsibilities at home. For those who have done it, how do you manage being away for weeks at a time? Do you travel with your family, choose assignments close to home, or take longer breaks between contracts? This is probably my biggest concern about travel nursing too. I could handle being away for a while, but I wouldn't want to miss too much time with family just for a better paycheck. Assignments within driving distance seem like a good compromise, especially when you're first trying it.
