A class action lawsuit has been brought against Samsung in Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County. It applies to anyone who purchased a Samsung DVD player between Jan 1, 1997 and Dec 31, 2001.
The plantiff's allege that Samsung's DVD Players contain a characteristic defect that render them incompatible with the standards for such devices, resulting in various video and audio defects (audio sync on N501) during the playback of certain DVD discs (Shallow Hal disc cannot play at all).
Claims can be filed to either get reimbursed for money spent on repair that you paid to Samsung or a third party, have Samsung repair or replace the DVD player, or get a rebate for money spent on a replacement DVD player due to problems with the Samsung player playing DVD's (purchase must have been made before Dec 1, 2003).
