Install new HDD Atari Falcon - Page 1

Bonsoir, (Aréthius, Princeps et Odie)

Je ne retrouve pas le sujet sur la réinstallation du HDD sur le Falcon de Odie one, alors je poste ici.
Après quelques recherches, voici une piste.


- la rolls, HD Driver de Uwe Seimet (http://www.seimet.de/hddriver_francais.html), payant mais complet. (44€ version complète 9.01)

Avec Hddriver tu es obligé de faire une partition C: de 1 GO max en BGM, après les autres partitions tu peux mettre plusieurs GO à condition d'inscrire F32 pour le type. Mais il te faudra Magic ou Freemint pour utiliser ces partitions (et je crois aussi qu'il faut les formater avec un petit utilitaire, du moins sous Freemint).
C'est pour ca que pour simplifier je te disais dans un 1er temps de t'en tenir à quelques partitions de 1 GO seulement.

- la rolls freeware: Cécile de Centek (http://centek.free.fr/atari/softs/s_cecile.htm). Il lui manque une API pour qu’il soit aussi complet qu’HD Driver, mais sinon c’est le driver conseillé par beaucoup.

Pour reprendre ses dires :

Sur mon FALCON je l'utilise sans problème. Je l'ai installé sur une disquette pour booter dessus en cas de problème. J'ai dû formater celle-ci sur mon Mega STE à l'époque. Je n'ai jamais eu de problème pour lire mes D7.

Mais j'ai aussi utiliser HDDriver en version 7.8, là aussi sans problème. J'ai formaté mon IDE en 8 partition de 1 Go. Idem pour le SCSI, 4 partitions de 1 Go.

Le seul souci que j'ai rencontré, c'est de ne pas pouvoir dépasser 8*1 Go sur mon IDE alors que c'est un 25Go, aussi bien avec Cecile qu'avec HDDriver"


Ca ne m'a pas l'air très compliqué de suivre le Tuto, mais hélas je n'ai pas de Falcon sous la main pour tester. j'en ai fait une D7. On verra ça à l'AC.

Je suis septique mais certain auraient réussit avec la version d'évaluation. Je met la procédure au cas ou vous voudriez tester.

I done this many times and have 3 spare IDE notebook HDD for my Falc.
1. Copy all HDDriver programs into a floppy. Important ones are hddriver.prg and hddrutil.app.
2. Power off (duh!) and remove the old HDD.
3. Insert the new HDD. Make sure it's master IDE (should say how to do it on the HDD itself)
Make sure pins 1 is correctly aligned
4. Power on the Falc and you see 2 floppy icon only. Insert your floppy.
5. Execute hddriver.prg. You will see flashing on the screen it driver looking for your hard disk.
6. On desktop, click Options>Install drives. Nothing should appear .... you need to partition it
7. Execute hddrutil.app.
8. Select Harddisk > Partition.
9. You should see your new HDD description, select it. OK.
10. The partition table will display and you may see some PC partitions there.
11. Just overwrite with the partition dimension you want (Falc can see up to 1GB but 1022 MB works better).
12. select TOS compatibility (as you don't swap internal drive )
13. You may want to partition 2 extra big partition for Fat32 and Ext2 FS if you are going to use MiNT later.
14. Click OK to begin partitioning and answer remaining question correctly.
15. Reboot your Falc again and run item (5) and then item (7).
You should see a C: patition when doing item (5) or more if you decided to partition more partitions.
16. In hddrutil.app, select FILE > Install HDDRIVER. This will write auto boot on your hard disk.
When ask to select a drive/partition, select drive C:
17. Reboot your Falc.
18. You will see that HDDRiver detects drive C: (and other some partitions if you made them).
19. On your desktop, click Options>Install drives. You will see drive C: there.
