A good advice: boost the Terra team, or you will have a big problem for the final boss smile

Get Celes, Ayla, Magus, Lucca, Terra, Frog. Don't put too many characters in one team.
Go to the village for Terra and Locke.

91

Thx, but where must I go to find the village and the other characters?? confus

You can get some hints at : http://drantin.web1000.com
But I don't recommend reading it. Try to find them by yourselve.

Forgive me if I'm being an idiot, but does anybody know when we'll get something other than a beta?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand the way the cf battle system works at all. The only other turn-based rpg I've ever played is FF (and Paper Mario, but I don't think that counts) and cf's system is nothing like Final Fantasy. Would anyone mind explaining it to me, please? (insert insult here........)

Try playing Chrono Trigger.

99

Great, but where can I find Chrono Trigger and what system is it for? confus (I hadn't even heard of it until I came to your website (maybe I'm a little out of touch scotch ))

Just try looking for snes9x emulator in Google and Chrono Trigger rom
By the way, no offense, but I don't think it is so difficult to understand how the battle system works.
Just try to use every single action you can do and check the result.
Basis are : Attack, Objects (Heal, Magic upgrade, ...), etc ...
Nothing really complicated and the icons are are well drawn.

103

Yeah, Snes9x 0.41 is quite a good emulator.
For someone who knows RPGs well, the battle system is easy enough to understand.
Attacks and Object are just like in any other RPG like FF, and the magics are special attacks which
use MP. If a character has an special attack and another has a different special attack, they can sometimes
be used together (Lucca flame attack + Chrono flying sword attack)
Each character has an element. Lucca has fire and Chrono has thunder.
There is a range, unlike in FF. You can't decide to move, but you move when an enemy hurts you, etc...
(In Chrono Fantasy you can choose to move wink)

I just bought Final Fantasy Chronicles for PS1 (Chrono Trigger + FF IV) and, yeah, the battle system makes sense now. The only problem is, now I'm sucked into Chrono Trigger instead of cf... grin
By the way, will cf work on AMS v2.09? I just downloaded it yesterday. top

I prefer zsnes ... did you check the sound settings in the sound menu ?

jer8683 > ZSnes has no sound by default, you must go in the sound settings.
And I prefer Snes9x: for the latest versions, Snes9x is better than ZSnes. Several years ago, ZSnes didn't need a powerful computer,
it could run on a P133 32 Mo quite well (66% of the game framerate at least), whereas now with WinXP a P2 266 64 Mo the same game
runs at 16% of the framerate. I know many things were added like a working transparency but... the main feature of ZSnes was the
little power you needed to make it run, now things have changed, you should use Snes9x (or an old version of ZSnes if you have a small
CPU)

On my calc (TI92+, AMS 2.09), many kernel games require a hack which is done by the Flash App "SuperStart".
If it doesn't work with only PreOS installed, install SuperStart too, it will work.

Will snes9x and zsnes run the same files? I already have a lot of games for the zsnes and I don't want to have to re-download them.

PS. Maybe I should also have mentioned that I have a TI89.

(And, PpHd, of course you'd say it works; it's your game... laught )

WinXp doesn't allow DOS programs to go at full speed.

115

so he must use the win32 version of zsnes...

That makes me think my version of ZSnes is old... I should download a more recent one... in both win and DOS versions...

jer8683 > No, a P3 500 with 64 Mb is enough to go at fulll speed and improve many things.
But with XP, more CPU speed is needed... but I guess that on this computer it won't change anything,
the games will run at 100% of the SNES framerate.

And now for something completely off the subject...

Does anybody know why nothing's been done with the FAT Raycasting Engine? I was really looking forward to some of the things that it could do. I downloaded a demo called Corridor92 a while ago, but have never seen anything else for the FAT. Any comments? Corrections? Insults?
