Where should I attend graduate school? - Page 1

I hope you don't mind me posting in English, but I think it is necessary in this case. I don't know the details of the French educational system and thus have no idea what the right words would be, or even if there is an equivalent word. At least you will not suffer my abuse of the French language in this post.

Anyway, I have decided it is time to extend my education, studying the subject of computer science. I have been accepted to three graduate schools, and now narrowed it down to two choices. So I think it is time to let you, the people of Yaronet, decide where I should study.

For those that don't know, in the US "graduate school" is the school you attend after completing a bachelor's degree, and thus is the 5th year (and beyond) of higher/university/post-secondary education.

As I did say on IRC, I've chosen the first one, because I knew a Caroline, many years ago... and I do know no Wisconsin nor Madison...

Here are some better reasons:

For UW Madison: it is the higher ranked school
For UNC Chapel Hill: the weather is warmer

mmh I actually just went to visit the web pages of these schools, and had a look at the computer department page (http://www.cs.wisc.edu/ , http://www.cs.unc.edu/)

I have no idea what areas of computer science you're interested in, but is _seems_ (but it might be a wrong feeling) the university of Wisconsin has a wider research field than the other one.
and if the climate is better, well.. I vote for Wisconsin

North Carolina is next to the ocean (although Chapel Hill is quite far from it), and i think the weather is fine.
Wisconsin is in the North, so i don't think you should expect warm winters

Apart from that, what matters most is whether they have a research program in what you're interested in. If both have, well, just have a guess

I don't know very much about NC, but i remember they are in the South. Maybe they have a mentality quite different from Berkeley

Perhaps you know better, but think about it.

A can't answer, 'cause I didn't have found admission profiles for UNC (and so "amount" of girls
