I came across to this nice HPMAN project from 2012 of re-building SNK's PCMCIA flash cartridges and would like to ask kindly for some more information loupe
Because there is still no Neo-Geo Flash Cartridge available on the open market, I would like to re-build your cartridge to speed up my real-hardware tests.

HPMAN, are you in the mood to share some bigger photos of the solder joints and of the additional logic (?) chips on the extra PCBs, please?
How did you have read/programmed/erased the VIKING linear flash card - with an own self-programmed tool?
Which kind of PCMCIA card reader you have used?

Well I've been back to that subject last weeks, with some cleaner stuff:

Still needs more work tho, large sized boards are an expensive hobby sick

As for the cards I just used an old laptop with memory card explorer software. I guess you could use some cheap PCI PCMCIA board if you don't have that, but never tested thoses.

Wooah! That's a nice progress - I am highly interested in this, if there is a chance to buy one of these prototype boards
from you (even for higher price) please let me know via PM. Also, I would do some beta testing for you if you want.

Thank you a lot for the info - did you mean this software?

Yeah that's the one and it's insanely expensive for what it does.
Found an "alternative" in the dark corners f the internet tho embarrassed

Sent you a mail.

5

eek very impressive, I'm also interested in one of these boards.

Hi HPMAN, I'm curious about the alternative you found. If you don't want to discuss it publicly don't hesitate to send me a pm.

Well there's not much to say atm. Adapters works but can't really be fitted on cha boards due to their size. Full boards needs mode develeopment.

Really nice developements in relation to dev works, like you mention some limiting factors but defo not constraigned as much as pc2neo on the memory side using the CD system. Swapping in and out cards though to update 68k code may be tedious.

yes, NeoSD is expensive but works great - running my old stuff (2002-2006) on real hardware is priceless! smile
