Bonjour forum ! J'ai commencé dehors sur un voyage de Linux. J'ai un ordinateur portable très vieil de ChemBook qui avait eu Windows 95 là-dessus. Le monde (le monde en ligne, en particulier) avait avancé au point où cet ordinateur portable n'était vraiment plus utile. Ainsi j'avais pensé que c'était une bonne chance de commencer à apprendre Linux. Alors un projet s'était développé au travail où quelques autres programmeurs avaient décidé de commencer à employer Debian. Ainsi j'ai commencé à essayer d'installer Debian. Ceci n'est pas allé très sans à-coup. La dernière version de Debian (gravure à l'eau forte) n'était pas conforme immédiatement à mon matériel visuel. J'ai lutté avec ceci pendant un moment et ai par la suite décidé de donner à Mepis un projectile. Ceci a fonctionné. Maintenant je pense qu'une fois que j'obtiens quelque l'autre question de matériel m'a résolu pourrait commuter encore après que j'apprenne plus au sujet de Linux. Ainsi c'est où je suis maintenant. Des suggestions ?

I have started out on a Linux journey. I have a very old ChemBook laptop computer that had had Windows 95 on it. The world (the on-line world, in particular) had advanced to the point where this laptop was really no longer useful. So I had been thinking that this was a good chance to start learning Linux.
Then a project had developed at work where some other programmers had decided to start using Debian. So I started attempting to install Debian. This did not go very smoothly.
The latest version of Debian (Etch) did not agree immediately with my video hardware. I struggled with this for a while and eventually decided to give Mepis a shot. This worked.
Now I am thinking that once I get some other hardware issue resolved I might switch again after I learn more about Linux.
So this is where I am now. Any suggestions?
